Prudential Cares Continues to help Rebuild
Making a Difference for a military family was the intent Robert Brett and the Suffolk Harbour View office of Prudential Town Realty and they achieved their goal on Friday, Sept. 30th. A total of 40 members of their office participated in their Day of Care at the home of Barg and Greg Smith. Devastated by 17 different types of mold, the Smith family home in the Hickory area of Chesapeake was condemed and the family was forced to leave in August 2008. Since then, the Smith Family of 4 has lived most of their time in a travel trailer while they relied on God's Blessings to find the money, the donations and the support of family, friends and volunteers to help them rebuild their home.
Delays have continued and the family still waits for flooring and trim before the job will be closer to completion. Hoping to have that completed by EOM January. Prudential Cares has funds available to assist with the materials and install of the flooring and hopes to continue to assist until the job is done!
Wanting to find a military family that needed help, Robert contacted Operation Homefront in July 2011. Knowing the scope of their rebuild and the number of volunteer Robert had for their project, OH referred Prudential to the Smith Family to learn more about their story. Prudential embraced the family and set to work raising funds to help support the cost of their contribution to the rebuild efforts. Spending about 4 hours on the property Sept. 30th, these committed members of the Prudential Team completed the landscaping efforts around the home bring the family one step closer to occupancy. Prudential continues to raise funds to support this effort and will be making additional contributions to the Smith's as the weeks unfold closer to November. Many thanks to Prudential for their support for this military family!
