Dad was stressed and found it difficult to relax knowing he had to get right back to it in a few days (transition from training to deployment) and the fishing was the one thing we did that really took his mind off of things. That is something we never would have done had we not attended your event so you need to know that what you did is so much bigger than just that one day of fishing. Operation Homefront - National Dear Operation Homefront, I wanted to say thank you for the generous donation of a laptop computer. I had to have an amputation of one arm, suffered blindness in one eye, and hearing loss in one ear all related to a serious burn over 80% of my body from an IED ... Operation Homefront - National Dear Operation Homefront, I wanted to say thank you for the generous donation of a laptop computer. I had to have an amputation of one arm, suffered blindness in one eye, and hearing loss in one ear all related to a serious burn over 80% of my body from an IED explosion. Due to my disabilities, I qualified for voice activated software and software for the hearing and sight impaired. The software is free through the government, but in order for the hospital personnel to train me to use it, I had to have a laptop to load it onto. Laptops to meet the minimum qualifications are expensive and often have to be custom ordered or upgraded to accomodate the large software package. My hospital case manager told me of your organization and did a letter for me that was submitted to my local Operation Homefront chapter. Within a week I had a laptop at my front door! With all the other expenses for my family at this time, I am so grateful to not have had to spend what little money I have on an expensive computer. Please pass my gratitude on to BAE Systems for the generous donation of the computer and tell your team thank you for facilitating my receiving it and for offering such a worthy program. It just so happened on my last weekend with him that on my home, my A/C decided to quit. I was miseable and upset because I didn't know what to do. With my husband hours away from deploying, funds were low and my son and I have health issues. My only hope was to turn to Operation Homefront. I am glad I did. He is a 14 year Army veteran that was very badly wounded by an IED during the last patrol of his second tour in Iraq. John ended up losing his right leg, badly breaking his left leg and left arm, as well as enduring multiple internal and shrapnel injuries and burns. We have been patients at Walter Reed Army Medical Center ever since the incident on the 5th of January this year. Our lives and the lives of our children have forever been changed by the events of that day. The good news is that John is getting better. Day by day he is working harder and harder to put himself and his life back together. He has learned how to walk again and his left leg is healing very well. He's a wonderful man, a wonderful father, and a superior soldier who has decided to remain on Active Duty and continue to serve the country he loves so very much, until retirement. If you can't tell, I'm very proud of him. I just thought you might like to know who received your gift. We love the sound of your products and can't wait to be able to try them!
