Needs
Most families needing assistance usually contact their local chapter of Operation Homefront. While we are expanding operations as fast as we can by opening new chapters around the country, not all military families will have a local chapter in their area. For those who do not, they are encouraged to apply through the national office. We try our best to fulfill the need! If you would like to fulfill the needs of one of families listed below, please click here to email us.

NY National Guardsman's home found unsafe to live in
Operation Homefront received a request from a New Jersey Service Member whose home was found unsafe to live in. The service member was ordered to active duty and was injured during the pre-mobilizations training. He sustained injuries to his spinal cord. In February of 2008, the service member and his spouse purchased a home on West Orange, NJ. Shortly after moving into the home, their son became very ill. The couple sought medical attention for their son just to find out that he had Lead Poisoning. After the NJ Board of Health completed a complete test of their new home, it was found unsafe to live in. The family had to find alternate living quarters as soon as possible so as not to aggravate their son's condition while still having to make the monthly mortgage payment on their home. The family checked into the NJ Abatement Program only to find out it is not an option for the family as this will add to the financial burdens they are already under. This family is in desperate need of financial assistance to have the lead removed not only from the interior of the home but the soil around it which has to be replaced. If you would like more information on this case please contact Vicki Sarracino at 888-296-5221 or vicki@operationhomefront.net. Please refer to case #NL080119

Operation Homefront received a request from the spouse of a deployed Utah soldier last week.  Wounded Sailor in jeopardy of losing home
Operation Homefront received a plea from the spouse of a wounded Navy Reservist. The sailor returned home from his second tour in Iraq recently only to find out that he would be unable to return to his civilian position. He has been actively looking for work but due to his injuries and severe Post Traumatic Stress Disorder it has made work nearly impossible. He was also hospitalized for treatment for the past three weeks which caused an additional financial burden on the family. His spouse is trying to maintain the family on her income but has found it hard to maintain the home on just her salary. They have two children and are trying desperately to save their home.  NY National Guardsmen in need of urgent financial assistance
Operation Homefront was contacted by a New York National Guardsman recently for financial help. While this service member was at remobilization training prior to deploying to Afghanistan with the National Guard he sustained injuries to his left arm and shoulder. Due to the severity of the injuries the soldier is not able to return to his civilian job at this time. The family is also suffering a financial burden due to the fact that their 13 year old son suffers from Spinal Bifida, Cerebral Palsy, hip displacement and is blind. The child recently had to have a spinal fusion at a hospital in Boston. The recovery for the child was expected to be 5 days, however was not released from the hospital for 21. Not wanting to leave the child’s side the family incurred hotel costs and other expenses for 21 days. Due to the unexpected cost the family was unable to make the May 1st rent payment and have contacted Operation Homefront for help with this payment. If you would like to find out more information on how you can help this family please contact Vicki Sarracino at 888-296-5221 or vicki@operationhomefront.net. Please refer to case # NL080112

 A New Roof
A young spouse of a deployed soldier contacted Operation Homefront with a major home repair crisis. The roof of their home is leaking so severely it is damaging the inside of the home. The family was struggling before the damage to the roof and the family is simply unable to handle this unexpected, very large expense. Operation Homefront advised the family to check with their insurance to see if any or all of the damage would be covered. Unfortunately, due to the age of the roof the insurance company denied payment for any of the repairs. Operation Homefront is seeking help to be able to take care of this repair as soon as possible for the family. Our main concern is to get this repair done so that the service member can focus on his very difficult job and not worry that his family or home is in jeopardy. For more information on his case please contact Vicki Sarracino at 931-431-3553. Please refer to case #NL080073 .

Maine National Guard Family Needs Vehicle
Operation Homefront received a plea from the spouse of a deployed Maine National Guardsman. The family contacted us when their 1998 Dodge Caravan , the families only means of transportation, was in an accident totaling the van. The value of the van is not worth the cost of the repairs. The spouse is in jeopardy of losing her job if she cannot find dependable transportation to and from work. There are also two children at home who need to be transported to and from school, doctors appointments, and general transportation. For more information on how you can help this family please contact Vicki Sarracino at 931-431-4553. ME0800017
