Tim McGraw, Operation Homefront Make Dream A Reality For Marine Vet

Operation Homefront, Tim McGraw and Chase were honored to award a mortgage-free home to Marine Corps Veteran Brandon Rappe in Michigan recently. Rappe, who received the home as part of our Homes on the Homefront program, got to meet McGraw personally and attend his concert in the area.

Learn more about the Rappe family:

Growing up in Lansing, Mich., Brandon Rappe wanted to do something with his life. He watched many people throw their lives away and didn’t want to go down the same path. September 11 played a large role in determining that.

“When I watched the towers come down I knew what I wanted to do in life,” said Brandon. “I knew that I wanted to deploy to serve my country.”

Shortly after joining the Marine Corps in August of 2007, he was seemingly  on his way. Brandon was stationed at Marine Corps Base 29 Palms in California and his unit was training for a deployment to Iraq. After a long wait, he and his fellow Marine’s had their deployment pushed back and more training ensued. Plans had changed and the unit found themselves now training for a deployment to Afghanistan. While in a training exercise Brandon fell and broke his hip. His hip injury eventually led to his separation from the military, never accomplishing his dream of deploying for his country.

Brandon and his wife, along with their daughter, are currently living with Brandon’s family in Bancroft, Mich. and are expecting another addition to the family soon. In the future, Brandon has big plans for his family.

“I am currently going to school for my bachelor’s degree in business administration and plan on immediately starting my master’s degree right after finishing,” said Brandon. “The whole reason that I want to finish these degrees is that I want to eventually open and run a franchise. The new home is going to be very important to us because it will give our family more room to grow, but it will also help me provide for the family as we move forward. Most franchises require the owner to have assets and a home is a very important part of this. We never thought this was a possibility and we are so appreciative of the gift that we have been given.”
