Marine Corps Corporal and Wounded Warrior Gets Mortgage-Free Home in Texas
Operation Homefront and
Chase were honored to award a mortgage-free home to Marine Corps Corporal Ryan Rodriguez and his family. As part of the Homes on the Homefront program, this very deserving veteran and wounded warrior recently received the keys to his new home in Kingwood, TX.
Read the rest of his story: After his father passed away when Ryan was just three years old, his mother and sister took care of him and became a very strong support system. Growing up in New Braunfels, his family supported him in everything he did. Ryan always wanted to do something meaningful with his life, so one day he quit his job and enlisted in the Marine Corps as a way of making his dream a reality. His family was extremely supportive of his decision.
He was stationed at Camp Pendleton, CA and did two tours in Iraq. During his time in Iraq, he suffered head and rib injuries that eventually led to a medical retirement from the Marine Corps. While rehabilitating, he lived in
Operation Homefront Village in Oceanside, CA to ease the transition out of the service.
The whole time he was in California, he saw very little of his now five year old daughter, who was still in New Braunfels, TX. He and his wife Rosa have recently been living with his mother to allow him to spend time with his daughter.
“It’s been great to be closer to her,” said Rodriguez. “I am finally able to reconnect with her. Living in California, I was unable to leave due to medical reasons, so I didn’t see her for a very long time.”
Ryan and Rosa’s new home in Kingwood, TX allows them to live much closer to Ryan’s daughter, so they can catch up on life. In February, Ryan will be receiving his bachelor’s degree in organizational management and will immediately go after his master’s degree.
