A Home For The Holidays
Lt. General Troy, Director of Army Staff, Mr. Richard Kleberg, Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army, and Amy Palmer, COO of Operation Homefront, recently visit wounded warriors and their families living at OH Village - San Antonio. Operation Homefront established these villages to allow service members to live rent free while they go through the transition process.
Often service members, who are disabled from injuries, return home where they then are discharged from service, have to vacate base housing and have to wait for their VA compensation to begin. Our young returning veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan are at risk of becoming homeless if programs are not put into place to help these service members transition back into civilian life. The Operation Homefront Villages give these families a place to call home until they can get established.
