Chase and Operation Homefront Present Home To Wounded Vet
Chase and Operation Homefront were pleased to donate a mortgage-free home to Army veteran and wounded warrior, Scott Baier. The home, located in Pompano Beach, FL, was presented to Baier as part of the Homes on the Homefront program.

Growing up in Oxford, Ohio, Scott Baier always knew what he
wanted to do with his life. His grandfather served his country in WWII, he had
two older brothers in the Navy, and one in the Army. Through their stories and
his dream of serving his country, at 18 years old, Scott decided to enlist in
the Army in 2004.
During his nearly six years in the Army, he was stationed in
Friedberg, Germany; Ft. Eustis, Va.; and Ft. Drum, N.Y. He also deployed twice
to Iraq. Scott served as a mechanic and crew chief, working on Blackhawk
helicopters. During his second deployment, he was injured several times by multiple
Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blasts, which ultimately led to his medical
retirement.
For the last two years, he has lived in with family in the
Indianapolis area. In October of 2012, Scott
moved to Orlando to pursue another aspiration. He took scuba diving classes and
recently finished his dive master qualification. Soon, Scott will be starting
the dive instructor course, where he will learn to pass on his knowledge.
Diving is extremely important to Scott, as it has become a major part of his
rehabilitation from the injuries sustained in combat.
In January, Scott received his new home in Pompano Beach,
Fla. through Operation Homefront’s Homes on the Homefront program. It was tough
for Scott to have his military dreams ended so early, but he has used that as
his motivation for his new dreams and goals. The new home will provide Scott
with much needed support as he continues to pursue his newfound love for
diving.
“It makes me happy every time I go diving,” said Scott. “Now
that I am moving into the new home, I will be able to continue to dive on a
regular basis. It’s much better than trying to dive in Ohio. We did a cold
water dive up in Ohio on the 30th (of December) and nearly froze,
but it was great. The idea that I will be able to live in the new home means
that I will not only be in the warmer weather, but I will be able to continue
my rehab, and pursue something that I love to do.”
