‘The Legendary Giveback’ Concert Benefits Operation Homefront

‘The Legendary Giveback’ Concert Benefits Operation Homefront

The Avett Brothers and Cheerwine teamed up for a sold-out concert in Charlottesville, VA for ‘The Legendary Giveback.’  More than 4000 were in attendance for the two-hour show. One-third of ticket sales is going to charity, benefitting three family-aid charities: Operation Homefront, University of Virginia Children’s Hospital, and Big Brothers Big Sisters.  Operation Homefront was honored to bring some military spouses to attend the concert for free. In addition, the event was live-streamed to military families and supporters of the event.

The picture at right has the Avett Brothers band members along with the wives of deployed service members who attended with Operation Homefront staff. Left to right, they are Mary Diner, Bob Crawford, Christy Edlessen, Joe Kwon, Scott Avett, Paulette Musselman, Seth Avett, and Christine Friis.

“For all of our 95 years Cheerwine has had a very special bond with our fans, whether they were raised on Cheerwine or just took their first sip,” said Tom Barbitta, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Sales for Cheerwine. “At the core of this program is a company value that says ‘you get a whole lot more back when you give.’ Teaming up with The Avett Brothers is a great chance to put smiles on a lot of faces while supporting people who take an active role through volunteering in their community, and partnering with Livestream gives us the chance to turn a regional idea into a national phenomenon.”
