GM Foundation Gives $25,000 to Operation Homefront at Darryl Worley Concert in Detroit
Funds will help provide emergency and morale assistance services to America’s military familiesThe
General Motors Foundation gave $25,000 to Operation Homefront in support of its military financial assistance and counseling services.
The GM Foundation donation was announced before a free concert by country music artist
Darryl Worley, sponsored by
GM’s Military Discount program, on the RenCen plaza stage September 8, as part of Detroit’s War of 1812 bicentennial commemoration events occurring in and around GM’s headquarters.
The GM Foundation’s donation will be used to provide emergency financial assistance in the form of checks paid directly to mortgage lenders, hospitals, and numerous other providers, as well as counseling and recovery support for struggling military families and wounded warriors.
“It is important that military families realize that they are not alone,” said GM’s Chief Diversity Officer Ken Barrett. “The GM Foundation’s $25,000 grant to Operation Homefront reinforces that message by providing vital resources to help U.S. Military personnel and their families when they are facing a time of financial need.”
The Foundation has committed more than $3 million to veteran and military organizations, including Operation Homefront.
“We cannot thank the General Motors Foundation enough. Their support means that anywhere from 25 to 50 families will receive financial assistance critical to leading their everyday lives,” said Operation Homefront Director Sarah Davis.
