Air Force Vet Receives Home From Chase and Operation Homefront
Chase and Operation Homefront were excited to hand Staff Sergeant Joshua Hillier the keys to his family's new home this week. The home was donated to Hillier as part of the
Homes on the Homefront program.
Staff Sergeant Joshua Hillier enlisted with the United States Air Force in 2004. Straight out of high school in Illinois, he knew he needed the college benefit from serving his country. What he didn’t know, was how much he was going to love it. Only planning to serve out one term, he ended up staying on for five years until he was ultimately deployed.
Josh found himself stationed in an office in Afghanistan, and working as a media exploitation analyst. Being exposed to twelve hour days of analyzing countless hours of phone conversations, videos, and anything the insurgents were using to communicate their attacks with one another as intelligence for our troops proved to be draining on Josh’s psyche. It wasn’t until he returned home that he started noticing signs of the effects impacting his personal life.
“I’m so grateful that my wife, Rosa, found out about Operation Homefront through the baby shower they were hosting on our base. This was right at the time I was struggling with PTSD and she was pregnant with our first child. Now that I’m getting better this home is an amazing donation to start our growing family off right,” exclaimed Josh.
Josh retired honorably from the military in 2011 for medical reasons, and was ultimately rewarded a home in League City, TX. A perfect location that is close to Rosa’s family in San Antonio, Josh is excited to be able to be there for his children and his community, while striving to get better and live out a happy life.
