Quick Work Brings Hams to Air National Guard in Iowa
Jeff Hansen, owner of Iowa Select Farms, wanted to find a way to give to military families this holiday season. So they contacted Operation Homefront to help. When we found the perfect opportunity, drill weekend at the National Guard Training Facility in Des Moines, IA, they had to act fast as it was only days away. Hansen was able to locate, buy and get 1000 hams delivered on a Sunday to give to the hundreds of servicemen and women who were on base that weekend.
One heartfelt thank you came from a mother, "I wanted to thank you SO MUCH for the ham my son received at Air National Guard in Des Moines yesterday. Wow. It's huge and gorgeous. He couldn't believe someone felt compelled to give away so many hams ... said the guys were really moved! Thank you so much for supporting our troops."
This event continues a tradition of giving for the Iowa Select Farms Foundation that has already donated 110,000 pounds of pork to food banks in Iowa in the last month.
