Back-to-School Brigade -- Call For Volunteers
Operation Homefront is gearing up for its 2011 Back-to-School Brigade program to provide backpacks full of school supplies to local military kids in need. Last year, we gave away over 29,000 backpacks, along with school supplies that were donated through Dollar Tree.
As you can imagine, it’s a huge undertaking that requires volunteers from around the country to help out. So, before the campaign begins, we need to find some volunteers who would be willing to pick up school supplies and assist Operation Homefront in distributing them to military families in your area. The commitment would require that you be available between July 8-25 to visit your local Dollar Tree at different times to pick up supplies and distribute them. It would be helpful to have a truck or larger vehicle to transport supplies in boxes.
If you would like to volunteer, contact Brad Claus at
brad.claus@operationhomefront.net for more details.
Thanks in advance for your help. Items donated for the campaign will include spiral notebooks, pens, pencils, markers, crayons, notebook paper, rulers, colored pencils, calculators, and erasers. This program saves military families a major education expense, especially for those experiencing financial hardships. Store locations can be found at
DollarTree.com, or contributions can be made online at
