You can use planned giving to support our mission to help military families. A planned gift is any major gift, made during your lifetime or at death, as part of your overall financial and/or estate planning. We have several options available for you to consider:
Stocks and Securities
Operation Homefront accepts stock and other securities as charitable donations through our account with Hollencrest Securities. To make a donation of any marketable securities, please download and complete the attached transfer form and submit to:
Bequests
We suggest the following language in order to make a bequest to Operation Homefront.
Sample Bequest Language for Wills:
Outright Bequest
I give [cash of $_________] or [specified property] to Operation Homefront (EIN 32-0033325), to be used for its general purposes.
Gift to a Restricted Field of Interest
I give [cash of $__________] or [specified property] to Operation Homefront (EIN 32-0033325) to be held and administered by Operation Homefront. Distributions shall be made annually in accordance with the Operation Homefront’s policies and guidelines. Distributions shall be for the following charitable purpose(s):
Example:
Wounded Warriors
Operation Homefront Villages
Military children
Subject to the right of the Board of Directors of Operation to alter the foregoing designations in the event that any or all of them shall, by reason of changed conditions, become impossible of fulfillment, impracticable or undesirable as determined by Operation Homefront’s Board of Directors.
Wills or Living Trusts
Trusts and wills are another option for planned giving. Your assets are not tied up now yet you may rest assured that they will benefit our military families in the future.
Annuities
A deferred annuity is an insurance investment used to give the holder a supplemental source of retirement income. It is possible to donate an annuity to a charity. Doing so requires adjusting either the owner or the beneficiary of the annuity. The insurance company issues the contract. The owner/holder receives payments during his/her lifetime and takes the tax liabilities. The beneficiaries receive the cash value upon the death of the annuitant. Donating the annuity may be attractive for tax or estate planning purposes.
Retirement Plans
You might be looking for ways to donate your retirement assets to Operation Homefront on a tax-free basis. There are some limitations that apply to donating these types of assets to charity, not only to the type that can be gifted, but also to the individuals who are eligible and the type of charity to which the donation can be made.
