OPERATION HOMEFRONT HOSTED 4TH ANNUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT
Over $145,000 raised to support servicemembers and their families in need.
Sterling, Va – Operation Homefront, the national nonprofit organization supporting military families and wounded warriors, hosted its 4th Annual Golf Tournament sponsored by Lockheed Martin at River Creek Country Club located in Leesburg, Virginia. The Tournament raised over $145,000 to support service members and their families living in DC, Maryland and Northern Virginia.
Lockheed Martin, the 2011 Signature Sponsor, led the impressive list of contributors with a $20,000 donation to Operation Homefront. “Operation Homefront is proud to have received support from Lockheed Martin and other corporations and businesses who stand behind the great men and women who serve in our country’s Armed Forces”, stated William P. McFadden, Chairman of Operation Homefront’s Board of Directors.
Additional sponsors included DRS Technologies, IDT, Booz Allen Hamilton, Society of Government Travel Professionals, Microsoft, Truland International, Acuity, Avis/Budget, Orbital Sciences, Marinette Marine Corporation, Phacil and InterContinental Hotels Group.
“The Tournament was an overwhelming success, and the most rewarding aspect is that through the help of very generous sponsors and tournament participants, a significant amount of money was raised to help service members and their families,” said Vivian S. Dietrich, president of the DC Metro Chapter which serves, Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Northern Virginia.
With over 120 area executives and wounded warriors in attendance, the tournament provided opportunities for networking, golf contests, a silent auction and dinner. Volunteers from across the region donated their time to ensure a memorable experience for all who participated. “Thank you for the great privilege of volunteering during the golf tournament…it was an unbelievable day of fun, caring and camaraderie” stated Vicki Singer of the Society of Government Travel Professionals.
