Harris Teeter, MillerCoors Donate Thanksgiving Meals to 400 Military Families
Harris Teeter, MillerCoors Support Operation Homefront this Holiday Season
Harris Teeter and MillerCoors will donate holiday dinners to 400 military families served by Operation Homefront (OH) at the Washington DC National Guard Armory on Tuesday November 20, 2012 . The donation is in its third year and serves as an example of MillerCoors ongoing commitment to Operation Homefront; Harris Teeter is the retail partner who will provide the meals as part of the company’s annual Harvest Feast Food Drive and Donation Card Campaign.
This donation at the Washington D.C. National Guard Armory is just one of the ways both Harris Teeter and MillerCoors show their commitment to the military. MillerCoors began its partnership with Operation Homefront in 2009 through its Miller Lite brand and the Thanksgiving meal distribution is just part of the beer company’s overall efforts to help service members throughout the year. Harris Teeter also maintains a strong relationship with service members and their families through its support of USO as well as Believe in Heroes, a Wounded Warrior Project® initiative.
Operation Homefront provides emergency financial and other assistance to the families of our service members and wounded warriors. OH also assists military families during difficult financial times by providing food assistance in the form of food boxes and gift certificates to grocery stores. In 2011, Operation Homefront met nearly 160,000 needs for military families including active duty, Guard and Reserve members from all branches of service. Since its inception, OH has provided more than $128 million dollar so funding to programs to benefit military families.
"Some military families struggle all year long to put food on the table for their families,” said Vivian Dietrich, President serving Operation Homefront DC Metro Chapter. “This Thanksgiving, Operation Homefront welcomes the opportunity to partner with Harris Teeter to provide turkeys so families in the DC Metro area, where food costs are especially high, will enjoy a traditional holiday dinner."
