Booz Allen Hamilton hosts Military "Moms to Be"
Celebrated at a "Star Spangled Babies" Baby Shower with Operation Homefront DC Metro.
Operation Homefront DC Metro in partnership with Booz Allen Hamilton hosted a
"Star Spangled Babies" baby shower for 50 area military moms in Oxon
Hill Maryland. Held at historic Oxon Hill Manor, the military "moms to
be" shared in traditional baby shower activities including gift bundles of
baby items for their new arrival and special gifts just for mom.
"Did you know that families of newborns spend an average of $72 per month
on diapers alone? Our "Star-Spangled Babies" baby shower is meant to honor
and shower these moms who are often in a different part of the country from
their own families and provide gifts to ease the financial burden of bringing a
new baby into the family," said Vivian Dietrich, Executive Director
Operation Homefront DC Metro.
"Military families have earned the support of a grateful nation. Booz
Allen Hamilton is proud to sponsor this "Star Spangled Babies" baby
shower to show our appreciation for the sacrifices families, caregivers,
spouses and children make when a loved one answers the call of duty," said
Laurene Gallo, Senior Vice President Booz Allen Hamilton.
The "Star-Spangled Babies" baby shower has enjoyed broad support of
the community. Individuals, civic organizations and faith communities have donated
items such as homemade quilts, afghans, booties, burp clothes and baby hygiene
items for the baby bundles each mother received.
