Wal-Mart’s generous donations
of toys and gift certificates to make holidays brighter for troops
and families
In partnership with the Defense Department’s America Supports
You and nonprofit Operation Homefront, the Wal-Mart Holiday Caravan
is coming to six military bases, making the holidays brighter for
tens of thousands of military families, many with a service member
deployed overseas. At each Holiday Caravan stop, Operation Homefront
will host a 3 hour event where:
Wal-Mart gift cards will be distributed to the first 200
families who register for the event at www.operationhomefront.net.
Santa Claus will greet military children with free toys,
supported by a literal caravan of fully-loaded tractor trailers truck
brought in by Wal-Mart. Santa will also read stories to children
at the top of each hour.
Tree trimming craft tables will be available for families
to decorate their Christmas trees and stockings, courtesy of Wal-Mart
A Toyland of the latest toys and electronic games will
be available for children of all ages to try out.
Holiday food, music and fun will complete the festivities.
ABC’s “Good Morning America” will cover the “Operation
Christmas” and the Holiday Caravan in key markets, providing
satellite service whenever possible to connect deployed service members
face-to-face with their families at the event.
